Formatting your mail

From:

- send mail from a person
- don't use a free mail account
- keep it consistent

Subject:

- avoid spam filters
- appeal to your target audience
- keep it short
- grab attention

To:

- use a persons own mail address

Body:

- html or text?
- write as if you are speaking to them

- in most cases, short length is best
- keep the offer clear
- limit the use of punctuation (?!!!)
- limit your line length to 60 characters
- always use the full url
- place links 2-3 times in your mail
- use specific landing pages for each offer
- limit the use of capitals
- only use one offer/promotion per mail
- clear, easy unsubscribe instructions
- call to action
- use a fixed-width font
- signature file

Attachments

- they increase download time
- try to avoid attachments unless the recipients expect them
- there is a risk of virus transmission
